We've all had that thorn in our side. A person, a situation, the thing we blame for why things don't work out as planned. Whether it's in our heads or the universe is really plotting against us, we may never know. This one is for the Wile E. Coyote, forever being outsmarted by The Roadrunner.
Climate migration will lead us to Mars, where we will be eat our chicken fingers in space. But can we be happy there?
The StoneHengers is the seventh single from The Margaret Hooligans upcoming fourth album, ThunderHole Rock n’ Roll.

Driver! is the sixth single from The Margaret Hooligans upcoming fourth album, ThunderHole Rock n’ Roll. Driver! is a damning look at the monstrous prison industrial complex in America that has been fueled by capitalism, racial injustice, and increasing wealth disparity. Meg invokes the use of the phrase “Attica” for the chorus, echoing Al Pacino’s use of it in Dog Day Afternoon. He was referring to the 1971 Attica prison riots which were a result of inhumane living conditions in the prison, and Cratty sings it here to remind us that conditions in these for-profit prisons are still terrible. Cratty uses an electric tenor guitar to create discordant but melodic riffs, which contrasts with her plaintive singing. Mr. Strontium adds everything but the kitchen sink in terms of drumming and percussion.
Royal Octopus Canal is the fifth single from The Margaret Hooligans upcoming fourth album, ThunderHole Rock n’ Roll. Royal Octopus Canal is a gritty break up song, the bastard child of Patti Smith and Bikini Kill. It is an anguished lament, where Cratty bemoans what went wrong while roiling electric ukulele slide riffs and pounding drums rival her turmoil. While Cratty’s vocals often temper the harshness of the distorted strings and drums, in this case she growls along like a wounded animal to greater effect.
Main Street Zulus is the fourth single from The Margaret Hooligans upcoming fourth album, ThunderHole Rock n’ Roll. Main Street Zulus is force of rhythmic drums, distorted tenor guitar, and fierce, angsty vocals. This song imagines the inner monologue of a woman forced to endure the worst blind date ever. The online dating world is fraught with people trying to put their best face forward which means there is frequently a bit of exaggeration. This song takes that idea to its extreme and imagines what it would be like to be stuck on a date with someone who has completely misrepresented who they are. Main Street Zulus is complete with sonic chaos to imagine that churning inner turmoil.
Main Street Zulus is the fourth of eleven singles that will be released through September 2024, with a full album release scheduled for October 2024. It will be available on all streaming platforms, the band’s website and Bandcamp on Tuesday, January 9th.
Alley Cat Stomp is the third single from The Margaret Hooligans upcoming fourth album, ThunderHole Rock n’ Roll. It is both a tribute to Stevie Van Zandt, one of rock n’ roll’s great guitarists and garage rock radio DJs, as well as a commentary on gun violence in the U.S. With his central role on The Sopranos and his crucial presence in the E Street Band, Van Zandt can be seen to represent a unique blend of these American successes and dismal failures. The lyrics also appear to be a radical mashup: the day’s of Stevie’s youth are interwoven with tales of “Milky Way Mikey” and his lonely outsider life. As Stevie nears his rise to Springsteen superstardom, Mikey’s frustration may lead to tragedy. Musically, we believe Stevie would love Alley Cat Stomp and its fast yet grooving tempo, blasting electric ukulele, insanely loose drumming with rusty cowbell bombs, and powerful female vocals that aim for predatory, not precious. For the record, we have no idea where Stevie buys his impressive headscarves, but we couldn’t ignore the musicality of the word “Patagonia.” Stomp features Meg Cratty's angular biting riffs, and Strontium's kitchen consortium drumming style, and will leave you wanting to dance like everyone in their infectious music video which will be out on midnight EST Tuesday, November 28th, 2023.
Revenge of the ScarJo is the second single from The Margaret Hooligans upcoming 4th album, ThunderHole Rock n’ Roll. Revenge of the ScarJo imagines a world in which men are subjected to the same sexual harassment that women commonly experience. ScarJo starts with a filthy drum beat and trashy cymbals, followed by a punishing electric ukulele riff, all the while Meg Cratty’s vocals taunt you with phrases of victim blaming that women have heard for decades. When the chorus kicks in, “Equality starts with catcalling but you didn’t like it, did you?”, we realize that the script has been flipped. The drums and fierce crooning vocals guide the song, while one can't help imagining a group of predatory females drunk with their own power.
First single release with The Qwarks, part of upcoming EP release, Piccadilly Flying Ant Circus.
Monkey Nuts was recorded at the Cascade Creative Recovery Center at Brighthelm, was mixed and mastered by Martin Johnson. It features Meg Cratty on lead vocals and Irish bouzouki, Catniss Evergreen on violin, Mr. Strontium on percussion, Phil Johnstone on electric guitar, Simon Young on bass guitar and mellotron, and Nick Flowers on drums.
